Connecting our local communities together
Rothes pupils of Speyside High School would have the option of using the route to cycle to and from Aberlour, as a safe and healthy alternative to travelling by public transport or private car.
With the link to the Speyside Way at Craigellachie, the route will offer an attractive extension for walkers and cyclists as well as a potential boost for tourism in the local area.
The path will be constructed to a standard similar to the recently upgraded section of Speyside Way from Craigellachie and will therefore be suitable for touring, hybrid and mountain bikes. The level nature of the path makes it accessible for family groups with younger children and buggies and less able users, including those with mobility scooters or adaptive bikes.
Although not part of the Rothes Way development, it could form one leg of a more challenging circular route between Rothes and Craigellachie, using existing forestry tracks to the west of the main road.
